I am now in week #6 of my #20thAnniversary #TriviaThursdays competition. Last week, the theme was “a franchise first,” well I experienced a first in this competition. I stumped you guys with last week’s question as no one could answer correctly before the midnight deadline. A twitter follower eventually got the question right the following day. Here was last week’s question:
Q: Who was the franchise’s first player to be named to the NHL All-Rookie Team and when?
A: Bobby Ryan (2008-2009)
I was hoping to kind of catch you guys off guard with this question. I was expecting a lot of Paul Kariya answers and of course, that was wrong. What a rookie season Bobby had. He notched 31 goals and 26 assists for 57 points in just 64 games. The other members of that 2008-2009 NHL All-Rookie Team were Patrik Berglund, Kris Versteeg, Drew Doughty, Luke Schenn and Steve Mason. Moving on. This week I’m going to go in a bit of a different direction. Instead of a franchise first, I’ll be bringing up some Anaheim Ducks records.
Teemu Selanne holds the franchise record for most times (6) being honored as NHL Player of the Week. Who is second with 5? (Worth 1 point)
You have until midnight to submit your answer at any of the three locations.
