Detroit, MI – This Western Conference Quarterfinals series may have taken a turn in the Ducks favor with Justin Abdelkader‘s hit on Toni Lydman near the end of the second period in game 3. The hit earned Abdelkader a two-game suspension. Many of the Detroit fans thought that the hit was clean and no suspension was warranted. There were many who referred to Lydman as soft or a part of female anatomy.
Aside from this story-line, captain Ryan Getzlaf is the team leader in points with four (2 G, 2 A) and has not seemed to miss a beat from the end of the regular season. Teemu Selanne is looking to add to his goal total as he leads the team with 10 SOG’s.
The Red Wings are looking to regain momentum lost and even up the series before heading back to Anaheim. This will be no small task since losing Danny DeKeyser to a broken thumb. The young defenseman was a spark for the Red Wings. Darren Helm will also be out with injury.
The puck will drop at 5:10 PST at Joe Louis Arena.
