Fort Wayne Komets Squeak Out Win Against The South Carolina Stingrays
K’s Continue Point Streak
North Charleston, SC – The Fort Wayne Komets (29-28-3) have point streak going now. They have earned five of a possible six points in their last three games. The Komets defeated the South Carolina Stingrays (31-24-7) 2-1 in overtime to keep the streak going. Jeff Deslauriers was in net again and stood tall for the entire game.
First Period:
The Komets came out of the gate blazing. It took less than three minutes for J.M. Rizk to net his 19th of the season and give the Komets the early lead. The K’s are still having power play issues.
Second Period:
Deslauriers’ shutout lasted until the 5:22 mark of the middle frame as Stingray forward Patrick Gaul netted his third goal of the season. The defense held the remaining time in the frame.
Third Period and Overtime:
The two teams were locked in a defensive struggle into the final frame. Nick Shaus was able to net his third of the year with a minute to go in the extra frame.
