Toledo, OH – The Fort Wayne Komets found a way to finish scoring chances and power plays tonight. With the win, the K’s (27-27-2) are seven points out of the eighth and final spot in the Eastern Conference. Jeff Deslauriers was again outstanding in net in just his second ECHL star.  The Toledo Walleye (30-19-6) kept the game close until the closing minute of the game.

First Period:

The opening frame saw an exchange of too many men penalties and a round of fisticuffs between Tyler Butler and former Komet Stephon Thorne with just over a minute remaining.

Second Period:

The middle frame saw the Komets take advantage of Kyle Rogers hooking call at the 11:52 mark as Matt Syroczynski netted his third of the year. The frame ended with a pair of coincidental minors and saw the the Komets go into the the final frame on the man disadvantage for Jamie Milam’s cross-check as time expired in the second frame.

Third Period:

In the closing frame, Walleye forward Nino Musitelli netted his fifth of the year to tie up the game at one a piece. Brandon Marino netted his 15th  of the season at the 17:05 mark. J.M. Rizk ensured the win with an empty-netter with five seconds left in the game.
