Loveland, CO – The Fort Wayne Komets (25-21-2) faced Colorado last night for the first time since 2011 when they were both in the CHL. The K’s posted a solid effort, but came up short against the host Eagles (23-21-3).
First Period
The opening frame was back and forth until the 14:30 mark when Ryan Hegarty turned the puck over leading to Colorado’s Joey Sides netting his 17th goal of the year.
Second Period
The middle frame saw the K’s tie the game. Thomas Beauregard notched his 18th after John Dunbar passed a laser to the front of the net at the 4:58 mark. The defense held until late in the frame when Eagle defenseman Isaac Smeltzer scored a wraparound goal with 3:37 left in the frame.
Third Period
During the final frame, the Komets did their best to get the equalizer, but came up short.
