Evansville, IN – After a long stretch of games with little down time, the Komets look to make a push for the top spot in the division. They will start tonight in Evansville against the Icemen.

The K’s dropped their last game on the road against the Kalamazoo Wings a week ago to limp into the All-Star Break with a 22-19-2 record. Every player, except Daniel Maggio, enjoyed the week off. Maggio participated in the All-Star Game, but did not have much production. He notched a +2 differential, had three shots and serve two minutes in the box.

Next Game

The K’s travel down state to face the old rival Icemen tonight. The Icemen come into the contest with a record 16-24-4 after losing to the division leading Cincinnati Cyclones last night 7-3 in Cincinnati. Fort Wayne has been successful going 4-2-0 against their fellow new join to the ECHL.

Matt Syroczynski was the Komets’ Playoff MVP in 2010

The Komets have added a familiar face to the team. Matt Syroczynski has agreed to terms with the club he helped win the 2010 IHL Turner Cup Championship. This is Syroczynski’s third stint with the Komets. The hope is that Syroczynski will replace the point production that Luca Caputi and Ryan Lasch had while on the team early this year.  Syroczynski and former linemate and team captain Colin Chaulk should both be available by the middle of February.
