Cincinnati, OH – The Komets had a strong performance from goalie Kenny Reiter that helped propel them to the shootout win tonight against division rival and leader Cincinnati. The K’s (20-16-2) gained a point on the leader and two on rival Toledo, who lost tonight to the Florida Everblades.

The first period saw the most action. Cyclone (21-12-3) forward Garrett Wilson tallied a power play goal at the 4:26 mark to start the scoring. The Komets answered on Brandon Marino’s rebound goal with 2:25 left in the period.

The Komets woes on power play continued throughout the contest going 0-for-4 on the man advantage, but the penalty kill continued to improve by going 3-for-4 on the kill.

There were no penalties in the extra frame and the Komets only got three shots off. As the game went into a shootout, the Cyclones went first. Reiter easily stopped all the shots he faced in the shootout. Brayden Metz went five-hole on the Cyclone net minder to give the K’s the advantage. Jean-Michel Rizk made some spectacular moves to seal the game and get the extra point.

The Komets will face the Cyclones again tomorrow night, this time back in the Jungle at 7:30 PM EST. Audio is available through the Komets website.
