Slow Start, Finish Doom K’s
Samuel Hoffman | The Journal Gazette
Fort Wayne, IN – The Komets had a slow start last night, even though they out-shot the visiting Cyclones in the first period. Cincinnati (20-10-2) scored toward the tail end of the first period. The K’s (17-15-2) had some good looks, but were unable to capitalize.
In the second period, Jean-Michel Rizk netted his 13th of the year at the 10:06 mark. Ninety seconds later though, the Cyclones scored again to take the lead. Recent addition Corey Elkins score the last goal for the Komets with a short handed goal at the 13:39 mark.
The K’s did not finish strong and allowed an even strength goal midway through the third. Cincinnati finished off the scoring while the Komets tried to score with the net empty.
The troubles continued for the power play unit as the Komets went 0-for-3 on the man advantage.
The Komets look to turn things around tonight on the road in Cincinnati at 7:30 PM EST. Audio is available as always through the Komets website.
