Changes Could Come After 5-2 Loss To Toledo

Fort Wayne, IN – The Komets continued to struggle last night versus the Walleyes of Toledo. Injuries and call-ups have devastated the lineup on a night to night basis.
General Manager David Franke was none to please with the team’s effort on the ice. In a post game interview he brought up the subject.
“I think there are (free agent) players out there. If this doesn’t turn around here shortly, we’re going to have to really consider bringing some new guys in or making some trades, doing something to stir it up,” Franke said. “Right now, I’m not happy with our effort at all.”
The first period was fairly uneventful, but the K’s were out-shot 13-5. In the second, Toledo (17-12-1) exploded for 4 goals. The Komets (14-13-2) did however get a power play goal on winger Garrett Klotz’s first of the year.
In the third, the Komets closed the gap to 4-2 on the second power play goal of the night as Josh Brittain’s 12th of the year. But the hope for a come back was dashed when the Walleyes scored again.
The Komets did have a good take away from the game as they improved their anemic power play by going 2-2 on the man advantage.
The Komets travel to Kalamazoo tonight night to face the old rival Wings.
Audio for tonight’s game will be available through the Komets website.
