Phantoms Slide Past Admirals

The Norfolk Admirals, the AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, lost their fourth consecutive contest against the Adirondack Phantoms, the top development team of the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-1.

Adirondack tallied the games 1st goal in the second period on a one-time goal by the way of Sean Couturier.  Couturier bombed a shot past Frederik Andersen while on the power play which padded the Centers goal total to 5 for the season.

Just seconds after the Couturier tally, Rob Bordson skated into the slot and stuffed the puck past Norfolk’s Andersen to widen the Phantoms lead by two.  Norfolk attempted a late period comeback when Peter Holland cashed in on a power play marker when left open in the right-circle in the Admirals attacking zone. The Phantoms outshot the Admirals 19 to 5 during the middle stanza.

The 3rd period came and went without the Admirals or Phantoms scoring. Norfolk ended the night with 26 shots while Adirondack shot totals read 31. Both clubs were 1 for 4 on the man advantage. Frederik Andersen was handed the loss for the Admirals while Adirondack’s goalie Scott Munroe was credited with the win.

The Admirals conclude the weekend road trip in Connecticut facing off against the Whale this evening at 7 pm EST.
