Classic Ducks Game Highlights: Game 3 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Final

Earlier today I brought you classic Ducks game highlights from game 2 of the 2007 Western Conference Final (in which the Ducks beat the Red Wings 4-3 in OT) as an extension of my earlier article this morning, enticing you to vote for Ducks games in the NHL Network’s “Top Stanley Cup playoff games of last 10 years” Fan Vote. In this post, we’ll give game 3 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Final the same treatment. Both games are on the NHL Network’s ballot.

Heading in to game 3 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Final, the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim were down in the overall series 0-2. Game three would be in Anaheim, the city’s first hosting of a Stanley Cup Final game. The Ducks stepped up their game for their hometown crowd. Take a look:

Ruslan Salei, who passed away last season in a plane crash that took the lives of his entire KHL Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, would score the game winning goal in OT, and Anaheim would have its first ever Stanley Cup Final victory.

Read Sports Illustrated’s full recap of the game here.

Was this a top playoff game of the last ten years? Let the NHL Network know and vote now! Be sure to tune in to the NHL Network on August 18th to see which playoff games made the cut.
