The NHL Gets Inked

If you haven’t heard already, the Islanders will have their own official tattoo shop. Tattoo Lou’s body piercing and tattoo parlor will be set up for 10 Islander home games. They will also sell Islanders body jewelry and other merchandise.

Is this just a ploy to get more people in the seats at Nassau Coliseum? Probably, but it is definitely something new and different. Will it work? Who knows, but it is worth a shot. From what I have read, most people have been ridiculing this idea and only a few seem to think it is a good idea. I personally think it is a great idea.

If the Ducks had their own official Tattoo Parlor, I would get something done there. Think of who the Islanders were trying to appeal to when they came up with this idea. Thousands of people, and I am one of them.

When I read this, I instantly felt a connection to it. Tattoos are a huge part of my life as well as it is to many others.

Why is this a good idea?

How many people like tattoos?

-I went to a high school of 3,000+ people. My graduating class had upwards of 850 kids and I struggle to think of kids who didn’t have tattoos. Several generations are very into getting ink and they will be attracted to anything to do with it. TONS of athletes and famous people have ink, which influences people.

Note: Don’t get a tattoo just because an athlete/celebrity has one. That’s lame. THINK ABOUT IT!

This will be a big outreach to new fans.

It is less harmless than people make it out to be.

-I can’t tell you how many times I have seen “people will get drunk and get tattoos they will regret”. Highly unlikely. Most professional tattoo shops will turn away drunk people. They do not want to be responsible for somebodies drunken mistake. Also when alcohol is in your system, it thins the blood causing the ink to rush out as fast as it is being put in. You have to assume that since the Islanders approved this shop, they know what they are doing.

What do you think about this?
