In the System: Kyle Palmieri

Kyle Palmieri (20), C:

Palmieri played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in college and was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks, 26th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

2008-09: Played for the United States National Develop Team where he scored 15 goals and 15 assists in the 33 games.

2009-10: Scored 9 goals, 8 assists, a minus-20, and 36 PIM as a freshman for Notre Dame. Also played for Team USA in the 2010 WJC where he posted 1 goal and 8 assists in 7 games.

2010-2011: He played most the year with the Syracuse Crunch where he notched 29 goals and 22 assists in 62 games. He also played 10 games with the Ducks, scoring 1 goal.

Palmieri is a grinder who has great speed and can handle the rough play of the NHL. The main issue is his puck-handling and ability to score. When he brings his A game, he could be a reliable secondary goal scorer. On the other hand, he may settle in to a 4th line position and stick to a grinding role if he can’t find his place in the NHL.
