Randy’s Locked In & Distracted By Non Duck Related Things

Coach Randy Carlyle will be back for at least one more season and the debates have begun.  Does this mean we will have more cohesion, has he been with the team for too long, has he gotten soft, is he too old, etc., etc., etc.

Personally, I think it’s a good thing.  He’s not a screamer or a bully and his ties don’t look like they were stolen from a demented Australian gigolo.

As reported by NBC Sports: “The 54-year-old Carlyle led the Ducks to their first Stanley Cup championship (2007), Pacific Division championship (2007) and a franchise-record four consecutive trips to the postseason from 2005-09. Under his guidance, Anaheim has won more playoff games (34) since 2005-06 than any other team with the exception of Detroit (48) and Pittsburgh (38). Carlyle has the most wins and highest winning percentage in Ducks history, compiling a 235-152-56 record in 443 games (.594 winning percentage).

“Sounds like the kind of coach you want to keep around for a while.”

Selanne and Koivu are both still probables.  I’m hoping that if Ovi bothers, Koivu, he’ll just sneeze snot all over the Big O.

In the distraction column, the Atlanta Thrashers (whose average home attendance is below 12,000 and barely above the Islanders and the ‘Yotes), trotted out a couple of promos that are actually pretty funny.  Imagine this call to the cops: “Someone stole my Zamboni…There’s a big bird on it!”  http://thrashers.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=66566
