When Cam Fowler hits the ice at the Joe, he will be greeted not only by cheers from friends and family, but the entire Windsor Spitfire team as well; courtesy of – you guessed it – The Red Wings!
I guess that Lady Byng has rubbed off on the entire organization.
Fowler’s fairy tale beginning to his NHL carreer just keeps getting more and more surreal.
Although born in Windsor, Ontario, Cam grew up in the Detroit area and couldn’t help admiring their top players.
Said Fowler, “I’ll just look over during warm-ups, see guys like Nick Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk, guys that I grew up watching and really admiring…Nick Lidstrom was a huge idol…now I’m going to be competing against [them]. For an 18-year-old kid like me, it’s an unbelievable feeling.”

How amazing would it be if he scores his first goal in Detroit? If that happens, I smell big budget, Hollywood movie in the making. But who to portray the defenseman…hmmm…
