All of us waterfowl faithful knew he’d re-sign, but the wait was awful!

Five years, four years, three years, five years… make it stop!

Well, the Ducks got their way and corralled Bobby to five years at $25.5M without no-trade or no-move stipulations.  Which hints that Ryan believes he will become a valuable commodity in the next couple of years.

If you recall, he originally only wanted to be signed for a maximum of three years, but the Ducks didn’t want to have him, Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf going all Free Agent freaky at the same time.

I hope the Ducks realize they need to keep Bobby around for a lot longer than five years and that Bobby realizes they will appreciate him and take care of him.  Yeah, that sounds sappy, but that’s how the Ducks roll.  Sure, we wanna win the Cup, but we’re not going to do it at the sacrifice of building a team just to dismantle it (Blackhawks anyone?).

The Ducks are all about building momentum and finding just the right players that fit in with each other.  Yeah, you can say that about just about every other team, but the Ducks have a history of booting out bad blood pretty quickly and going that extra mile to retain the best of the best of the best.

And the Best of the Best of the Best have always responded by being loyal and above all, giving us – the fans – their absolute best.

Bobby Ryan is a powerhouse player (as dished on by one of my esteemed colleagues here) and is well on his way to becoming something of a cross between Getzlaf and Parros.  At 6 foot 2 and about 210 pounds, I wouldn’t want to be between him and the boards (especially since I’m 5’3” and weigh 90lbs).

So where does that leave us?  Well, we can pretty much call the team solid, the open to the public training is gonna be hella fun to watch and I cannot WAIT for the opening salvo when the Ducks whup the Kings arses at Staples Center on September the 28th!

Oh, and by the way, you can stop calling him SILVER.
