Well, well, well, I finally got a SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN! night of hockey. Yeah, I know the Ducks ain’t gonna be in contention for the hardware this year, but after all the slamming I’ve taken from Kings fans over the last couple of days, it’s nice to be able to be able to be proud of those who once were ‘Mighty’.
Teemu didn’t make it to 604, but I don’t think anyone cared – least of all Selanne. What counted was the win.
McElhinney was fired up, all guns blazing after his previous loss and owned the net against a Kings team that seemed somewhat…how to put it…VAGUE.
Their attacks were fierce, but unfocused. Their defense was determined, but disorganized. If the Kings want to make it to the really big show, they better ramp up their play in a big way. Are the kids collapsing under the pressure? Oh no! Maybe they should rent Scotty to show them the way.
Aside from a rather lame fight between Sheldon Brookbank and Raitis “I couldn’t Score if my life depended on it” Ivanans (highlighted by Ivananas pulling Brookbanks hair), the game moved along quite nicely. There were no scrums or ice-encompasing beatdowns, just great, heart-pounding hockey.
{Sorry, on a side-note, did anyone see the Sens game earlier Saturday? Now THAT was a lot of blood!}
The Ducks pulled their netminder when Jarret Stoll committed a hooking penalty with 1:32 remaining in regulation. Saku Koivu came to the rescue on the six on four to force the game into overtime, which turned into a shootout and guess who saved the day…?
