Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne Komets are now below .500 for the first time since after the first game of the season. The Komets (26-27-2) had trouble closing out shots, breakaways, and power plays. Jeff Deslauriers, however, had few issues finishing plays in net. The Cincinnati Cyclones (32-17-6) extended there lead in the North Division and passed Gwinnett who lost tonight against Orlando.

First Period:

The K’s issues on the man advantage continued. Also finishing drives to the net have popped up. Matt Syroczynski missed from right in front of the net which was rebounded by Cincinnati and resulted in David Pacan netting his 12th of the year from the right circle at the 8:50 mark. After Colin Chaulk was called for interference, Brandon Marino had a short-handed breakaway, but did not shot until he was behind the net. Deslauriers has been doing well in net for the Komets so far.

Second Period:

Jamie Milam was able to boost the power play with his first goal of the year at the 12:36 mark in the middle frame. The finishing issue continued as J.M. Rizk had a point blank shot that was gloved by Cyclone goalie Michael Houser.

Third Period:

The Komets came out with some momentum in the closing frame, but were unable to keep it when Cyclone forward Josh Shalla notched  his 18th of the year at the 5:58 mark in the game. The K’s attempted to get the equalizer late, but Cincinnati was able to score on the empty net in the closing seconds to ice the game.

Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne Komets have been in a real funk of late, dropping five straight and seven of their last nine. Their playoff hopes are dwindling faster than a line change.

The Komets last game was a 6-3 loss to the Toledo Walleye Sunday night. The K’s started strong, but became sluggish at the end of the game.

J.M. Rizk will be on point for the anemic power play. Since Sunday’s game, the Komets traded defenseman Brent Henley to the Florida Everblades for an undisclosed amount of cash. Netminder Jeff Deslauriers was assigned by the Anaheim Ducks as well as right winger Matt Kennedy.

The Cincinnati Cyclones are coming off of a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of the Kalamazoo Wings Monday night. The division leaders are battling for playoff seeding and are a point out of second and eight out of first in the conference.
