Anaheim Ducks Assign Tim Jackman To AHL San Diego, Recall Max Friberg

On Monday, the Anaheim Ducks placed veteran winger Tim Jackman on waivers. This morning it was announced that Jackman had cleared waivers and he was subsequently assigned to AHL San Diego.

Jackman was acquired by the Ducks during the 2013-2014 season via a trade with the Calgary Flames. The 33 year old 483 game veteran has 75 career points and is best known for his place after dropping the gloves.

From 2013-2015, Jackman appeared in 81 games with the Ducks, solidifying himself as a great fourth line energy guy who had the ability to score from time to time. However, Jackman has appeared in just two games so far this season.

That is largely due to the presence and solid play of offseason additions Mike Santorelli and Chris Stewart.

24 year old forward Chris Wagner has also solidified his spot with Ducks as a younger, faster and more offensively gifted version of Jackman.

Jackman’s most recent game against the Dallas Stars was a poor one, he iced the puck on a number of occasions and took a bad penalty as well. This is a case where Jackman has become a healthy scratch far too often and Ducks general manager Bob Murray has decided to bring up so offensive touch.

The second part of this Jackman move was the recall of forward prospect Max Friberg.

Friberg appeared in just one game for the Ducks last season but has been tearing it up in San Diego recently. He has three goals and five points through seven games as he and Nick Ritchie have by far been the Gulls best forwards thus far.

After Jiri Sekac did not return to Sunday’s game with a lower body injury, his status for Wednesday night is in question. This could allow Friberg to make his season debut with the Ducks.

The Gulls take on San Antonio tonight but it is unknown whether or not Jackman will be the lineup.
