Defense wins championships, huh?  Try telling that to this Anaheim Duck!

So far, the Anaheim Ducks have played five games in the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.   That is the fewest amount of any time that has reached their conference semifinals, since the Ducks were the only team to earn a sweep in the first round – yet Corey Perry leads all NHL players in scoring during the postseason right now.

Perry has five goals and six assists in five games, good for third overall in both of those categories.  He’s on an absolute tear right now, and the best part is, he is maximizing his time on the ice in a way that no one else currently playing is even close to matching.  Check out this Tweet from Yahoo Sports NHL last night:

Clearly, Perry has entered beast mode – 7.15 points per 60 minutes is superhuman.  Pavel Datsyuk led the NHL in points per 60 minutes (P/60) this season with 8.05, and there were only seven players in the entire league to crack 7 P/60 for the season.   The Captain, Ryan Getzlaf, owns a solid P/60 – nearly a full 3 points behind!  No one knows if Perry can continue to score this efficiently, but if he does, the Ducks are going to be playing deep into May.
