How Sweep It Is

Winnipeg in 5, Winnipeg in 6, Winnipeg in 7. When the experts and insiders around the NHL went to make their first round predictions, it was clear that many thought the Winnipeg Jets would be able to pull off the upset by defeating the Anaheim Ducks. Thursday morning may have had some of those experts and insiders re evaluating their thoughts about this Ducks team as Anaheim completed the sweep of Winnipeg Wednesday night. The Jets were supposed to give the Ducks trouble. They were supposed to use their crazy crowd to even the series at two games a piece. Neither of those things happened.

The Ducks went to Winnipeg and stunned the sea of white inside the MTS Centre. As the recaps of the series hit the papers and the internet, many are praising the Ducks performance. The Jets did not lose the series, the general feeling is that the Ducks went out and showed why they are the number one seed in the western conference. The Ducks performance in round 1 was incredible. It is clear that any team out west trying to reach the Stanley Cup finals will have to go through Anaheim first. Every team still alive in the western conference should be worried.
