The Ottawa Senators and starting goaltender Craig Anderson agreed to terms on a three-year, $12.6 million contract extension.

With the extension, Anderson is now under contract with Ottawa through the 2017-2018 season.

Anderson, 33, will enter in to his fifth year with the Senators after being traded from the Colorado Avalanche midway through the 2010-2011 season. He has also had stints with the Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers.

The two-time All-Star was at his best during the lockout-shortened 2012-2013 campaign as he posted a 12-9-2 record, with a sparkling 1.69 goals against average and .941 save percentage. Anderson’s numbers slipped a bit last season as he finished 25-16-8 with a 3.00 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.

After making the playoffs in 2012-2013 thanks in large part due to Anderson’s marvelous play, the Senators failed to claim a spot last season, falling five points short of the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Ottawa opens the 2014-2015 season on the road against the Nashville Predators on Oct. 9.
