According to a report, there will be a press conference this morning regarding former Anaheim Duck Teemu Selanne and his future career plans.
The press conference will be held at 8 a.m. PT.
Juha Hiitela, an NHL correspondent for a Finnish sports website, broke the news earlier this morning.
Selanne, who announced his retirement from the NHL before the beginning of last season, has been debating a possible return to Jokerit, his former club in his native Finland. Selanne played six seasons with Jokerit before heading to the NHL and compiled 151 points in 117 games.
Earlier this week it was reported Selanne was offered $10 million to come home to play for Jokerit. Jokerit also offered $5 million if Selanne was just interested in playing home games. Both offers are quite enticing as Jokerit prepares for its’ first season in the KHL.
The Anaheim Ducks announced that they will retire Selanne’s No. 8 next season on Jan. 11 against the Winnipeg Jets. Selanne has become the face of the franchise in Anaheim and his number will be the first one hanging in the rafters at Honda Center.
Selanne retires from the NHL as the leader in nearly every offensive category in Anaheim. He ranks 15th all-time in career points with 1,457.
