There was a lot of anticipation leading into the start of free agency this year.

Although there wasn’t any one star player teams were bidding for, there were a lot of support players that could add depth to the organization, especially defensemen.

This piqued the interest of Anaheim Ducks fans.

Having just acquired Ryan Kesler, the team was obviously serious about the coming season and their chances of being a serious Stanley Cup contender.

The biggest missing piece at this point was a solid, shutdown defense.  If the Ducks could figure that out, they’d be set.

Who would the Ducks acquire to fill this spot?  Ehrhoff?  Stralman?  Boyle?

Free agency came and Ducks fans quickly had their answer.

The Ducks went after Minnesota Wild defenseman Clayton Stoner, which led many Ducks fans to ponder, who is Clayton Stoner, and why did we just sign him for the next four seasons?
