Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports
Ryan Getzlaf does it again.
The captain of the Anaheim Ducks was announced this morning as one of the finalists for the Mark Messier Leadership Award. The award is given to the NHL player that exemplifies leadership both on and off the ice.
Dustin Brown of the Los Angeles Kings and Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks were also named finalists for the award.
Getzlaf is in the midst of a career season with the Ducks. He finished second in the NHL in scoring with 87 points and has continued his success in the postseason.
Despite playing with a facial laceration after taking a slap shot to the face in Game 1 of the Ducks’ series against the Dallas Stars, Getzlaf led the Ducks with seven points on three goals and four assists.
Anaheim has moved on to the second round and awaits the winner of the San Jose and Los Angeles series.
