Good Morning Olympic Ducks fans! I’m just going to start by saying, if you don’t want to know what happened in Sochi, Russia while you were asleep stop reading NOW!
Yesterday, the Team USA Women took the ice against the Team Canada women. The gold medal game was nothing short of shocking. USA led by two goals with three and a half minutes left in the game. Some may take exception to a few calls, there was something about a slash and another about a cross checking call that had many people upset. At the end of the day, no one is perfect and the Canadians won the gold in overtime.
Team Canada and Team USA face off today in the men’s tournament. Canada will be without John Tavares, who suffered a season ending knee injury. The New York Islanders’ General Manager, Garth Snow had this to say about the NHL in the Olympics. The media is like court, “anything you say can, and will, be used against you.”
Team Sweden defeated Team Finland to move through to the gold medal game. It was a great game but Finland just looked gassed towards the end. Look for our recap later today but check out the stats here until we post.
