Anaheim Ducks: Captain Ryan Getzlaf Out Versus Vancouver
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports
Looking to extend their home winning streak to eight games, the Anaheim Ducks will have to do so with their captain and leading scorer Ryan Getzlaf. The team’s official Twitter account announced so about two and a half hours before the game was due to start.
The injury was said to be an upper body injury. No other details, including a time table was given other than ‘day-to-day’ (and in hockey, who knows what that means). It was reported that he fell during the morning skate on Friday, but still went on to score a hat trick later that night. No word on if it correlated.
Getzlaf leads the Ducks in points, and after his performance against the Buffalo Sabres he moved within one point of Sidney Crosby and Steven Stamkos for the league lead.
The Ducks are already out Saku Koivu, who is still recovering after taking a hit from Brandon Dubinsky, so the likes of Nick Bonino and Mathieu Perreault will have to step up in Getlaf’s absence.
The Ducks take on the Vancouver Canucks 5 pm PT on Fox Sports Prime Ticket.
