Ducks Finalize Opening Day Roster

Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-USA TODAY SportsThe Ducks have just released their Opening Day roster. After the placement of Souray, Silfverberg, Etem and Sbisa they still had a number of moves to make.

Placed on IR:
Emerson Etem – Right Wing
Jakob Silfverberg – Left Wing
Luca Sbisa – Defensman
Sheldon Souray – Defenseman

Assigned to Norfolk (AHL):
John Kurtz – Left wing
Rickard Rakell – Center
Brad Staubitz – Right wing
Nolan Yonkman – Defenseman

Assigned to Utah (ECHL):
Igor Bobkov – Goaltender

There really were no surprises here and while Yonkman and Rakell played well in the preseason there is just too much talent right now in front of them. It also doesn’t serve Rakell to play fourth line minutes with the Ducks when he can be honing his game with top line minutes for the Admirals. After these moves, the Ducks have now finalized their Season Opening 23-man roster, comprised of 14 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.
