I want to sit here and say it’s just the preseason and not to worry because it is. In the grand scheme of things this game means nothing. The Ducks are still 0-0 and are the defending Pacific Division champions. Unfortunately this game left a bad fast in my mouth! Maybe it is because it was the Kings or the 6-2 drubbing of the Coyotes the night before but that really isn’t it. The Ducks skated a younger, less experienced team (except the PPG line and some others) than the Kings and while you want a win every night you can understand a loss. What I can’t understand is the sloppy play, bad turnovers and the lack of effort by the Ducks. I think Coach Boudreau says it best

"“You create bad habits by not working. You ask the L.A. Kings in their game against Phoenix, the same team we beat. None of them did anything. Tonight, they came out and worked and showed what their true colors are. It’s going to be the same situation with us. We’ve had some guys who haven’t worked very hard in training. They need to get back to the grindstone and start working.”"

Our own Matthew Jansen was at the game last night and his first note to me was exactly what I was thinking as I listened to last nights game. The PPG line looks out of shape and I couldn’t agree more. We can’t win on talent alone. The rest of the league especially the contenders have just as much if not more. We need our Leaders and veterans to lead by example, to hustle every time they are on the ice so our young players can follow.

Other than that the Ducks took a ridiculous amount of penalties, the Kings scored a lot of goals and the defense looked shabby. Some of the good last night was the good play of Sami Vatenen and Viktor Fasth was solid in net. The Ducks look to rebound against Colorado tonight at 6 p.m.
