A couple of days ago, I wrote a post about how the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings will NOT have an alumni game this upcoming season when they take part in the NHL’s Stadium Series. Well, today it was announced that in early September, the Ducks and Kings will take part in a matchup that is the complete opposite of an alumni game. The Ducks rookies will take on the Kings rookies at Honda Center on Saturday, September 7th. The “SoCal Hockey Futures Game” will begin at 6 p.m. and will include free admission and parking to all fans. Then, on Monday, September 9th, the Ducks’ rooks will travel to play a game against the Kings’ rooks at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.

A full roster for these games will be announced next week. I can pretty much guarantee that Ducks rookies Shea Theodore, Rickard Rakell, Hampus Lindholm and John Gibson will be included. Here’s my predicted lineup:

Nic Kerdiles – Rickard Rakell – Stefan Noesen

Max Friberg – William Karlsson – Chris Wagner

Kevin Roy – Antoine Laganiere – Nick Sorensen

Steven Whitney – Joseph Cramarossa – Grant Besse

Hampus Lindholm – Shea Theodore

Sami Vatanen – Keaton Thompson

Andy Welinski – Mat Clark

John Gibson

Frederik Andersen

Bench: Charlie Sarault, John Kurtz, Kevin Lind

That could be entirely correct OR it could be not even close. The Ducks know what they have better than I do. Also, a lot of the Ducks’ best rookies are centers who can play either wing as well. So, there are going to be some position changes probably. As well as a deeper bench.
