Forward Matthew Lombardi (via NHL.com)

On what was looking like a very boring trade deadline day, things exploded a bit towards the end. The Anaheim Ducks made some moves before today, but they did finally make a trade today. A report has it that the Ducks have traded for forward Matthew Lombardi of the Phoenix Coyotes. In return the Ducks have traded away young forward Brandon McMillan. I like this trade a lot. Mostly because I don’t think the Ducks needed to make any major moves. They made their moves when they resigned Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. McMillan was a well liked guy around here, but he was not getting NHL time and the Ducks have young guys with more potential than Brandon. Lombardi just adds to the depth up front. I’ve already seen plenty of tweets talking about how the speed he brings will be awesome. Some people already placing him on a line with Andrew Cogliano and Emerson Etem. We’ll see how this all lines up later.
