Los Angeles – The Anaheim Ducks seemed to not have shown up in the third and that was ultimately their downfall. Jonathan Quick saved two more shots than Viktor Fasth. This was Fasth’s first career NHL loss.

First Period:

The opening frame had all the makings of Wild West Showdown. The Quick and the Fasth kept the opposing team out of the net. Kyle Palmieri led the Ducks with two shots in the first.

Second Period:

Andrew Cogliano broke the scoreless tie coming out of the gate on a tip-in at the 13 second mark. Dustin Penner scored his first of the season three minutes later to knot the game up. Just before the six minute mark, Saku Koivu netted a wrister for is fifth of the season on the power play. The Kings hung in and Dustin Brown‘s slapshot got past Fasth for his sixth of the year.

Third Period:

Slava Voynov netted his third of the year 4:46 into the final frame. The Kings kept the scoring up by notching the third straight unanswered goal while on the man advantage on Jake Muzzin‘s wrister. The Ducks tried to generate some offense with an extra attacker, but Jeff Carter‘s empty netter sealed the win for the Kings.
