Charlie Effinger Shows His Fatigue As K’s Get Crushed On The Road

Loveland, CO – The Fort Wayne Komets (26-22-2) faced the Colorado Eagles (24-22-3) down to their last goalie under contract due to AHL recalls and it showed. Effinger gave up three goals in the first period and did a little better as the game went on.

First Period

The opening frame was dominated by the Eagles. Eagles’ defenseman Cody Sol scored his fourth of the year at the 1:32 mark. Dylan Hood scored less than a minute later. Sol than notched a power play goal late to send the K’s to the locker room down 3-0.

Second Period

The middle frame saw Thomas Beauregard net his 19th of the year, but not until after Colorado’s Joey Sides and Steve Haddon scored.

Third Period

The closing frame was again dominated by the Eagles, though they only scored on Michael Fomey’s 23rd of the year.

The Komets return to the Eastern Time Zone Tuesday to face the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:35 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on 1380 AM and 106.7 FM due to the State of the Union address.
