Evansville, IN – Kenny Reiter stood on his head tonight stopping all 36 shots that came his way. The penalty kill also came up huge by stopping all six penalties that were called.

This game was truly a defensive struggle the entire way. Reiter went save for save against opposing net minder Paul Karpowich until recent call-up Mike Hoban netted his third of the year at the 9:59 mark in the final frame.

Eric Giosa notched his sixth assist of the year (and 14th point overall) on the lone tally in the game.

The Komets were informed before the contest that top scorers Brandon Marino and Jean-Michel Rizk would be returned to the team from AHL Norfolk in addition to Defenseman Ryan Hegarty. Luca Caputi and All-Star Defenseman Daniel Maggio were in tonight’s lineup.

Sidelined Captain Collin Chaulk is out of the hospital due to a relapse while recovering from a foot infection. So far, no timetable is set for the captain’s return, but he should be back on the ice before the playoffs.

The Komets’ next game will be Friday back home at 8:00 p.m. EST against division rival Toledo. Audio is available through the Komets website.
