Roster Moves Made For K’s

ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets (via ducks.nhl.com)

Fort Wayne, IN – In order to keep the team rolling now that the lockout is over, the Komets have announced the following moves:

Daniel Maggio, the Komets lone ECHL All-Star selection, has been loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL. The 21 year old played in all 36 games so far racking up 15 points. The LeSalle, Ontario native made his pro debut last year during their CHL Presidents’ Cup Championship run.

Center Brayden Metz has been called up from Federal Hockey League affiliate Dayton. This will be the 22 year old’s second stint in Fort Wayne.  The center appeared in one game with the Komets, New Year’s Eve, before rejoining Dayton in the FHL where he has scored 20 goals and 59 points in 29 games.

Defenseman Nick Wheeler (also from Dayton) looks to replace Maggio on the blue line. So far the 24 year old has 14 points (1 G, 13 A) in 16 games this season.
Defenseman Jeremy Gates has been recalled from Pensacola of the Southern Professional Hockey League. The 25 year old participated in Fort Wayne’s preseason camp and skated in the Komets’ season opener Oct. 12 before joining Pensacola where he has registered three goals and ranks fifth on the Ice Flyers with 11 points appearing in all 26 games to date.
