Fort Wayne, IN – Old foe Toledo got things started tonight with a soft goal against Kenny Reiter 3:11 into the contest. Jean-Michel Rizk (12) three minutes later. The tie didn’t last long as Walleye forward Andrej Nestrasil netted his ninth of the year. Defenseman Scott Kishel got his first of the year at the 10:39 mark.

The second period brought out the emotions as there were two fights and five minor penalties. The Komets seemed to fall apart briefly, allowing three goals in a five minute span. Stephon Thorne tried to jump-start the team by dropping gloves with Doug Clarkson, but that did not do the trick. Enforcer Brent Henley finally got things sparked with his fight against Phil Oreskovic at the 15:26 mark. The Komets responded on Matt Firman’s sixth of the year.

The third period was as bad as the second tonight. The Komets continued to have a poor showing on the the man advantage. Toledo opened the frame with a goal at the 8:52 mark. The Komets responded a minute later on a weird knuckle-puck shot by Eric Giosa. Toledo then scored next three goals to put the game away.

Changes are definitely ahead in the coming days. The next game is Wednesday at home against Gwinnett at 7:30 PM.
