The NHL announced yesterday that all preseason games through September 30th have been cancelled. After officially announcing the lockout this past Saturday, announcing this decision was next on the list. After that, they start cancelling the rest of the preseason games, in early October. Then, they start cancelling regular season games.
The Anaheim Ducks lost three preseason games due to this cancellation, Sept. 25th vs. Phoenix and split squad game against Phoenix and San Jose on Sept. 28th. Their first preseason game now is scheduled for October 1st, against the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings. Man, that still just doesn’t sound right.
Well………there’s not much else to say here. There are no scheduled meetings to discuss a new CBA for the rest of the week. Also, it was announced that the NHL’s staff has taken a pay cut and their weeks are down to four days instead of the usual five.
Players continue to defect over to Europe and Russia during this lockout. I have not personally seen any news of any Ducks veterans taking their talents elsewhere. When there is any news, we’ll let you guys know.
