Here’s some good news among all the inevitable lockout news for you. Cam Fowler was signed to a five year contract extension, the Anaheim Ducks reported today which keeps him with the club through the 2017-18 season. Although the Ducks did not release the financial terms of the contract, it is being reported elsewhere that he will be making $20 million over the 5 years, a cap hit of $4 million each season.

Bob Murray had this to say:

"“We’re excited to sign Cam to a long-term contract. He’s a character kid with a great chance to become an elite NHL defenseman.”"

It’s a very manageable contract, a great move by the Ducks organization. And a great time to give fans some positive news. The next big hurdle for the club will be figuring out the Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf contract situations. But for now, extending Cam Fowler is a huge step in the right direction.

What are your thought’s on Fowler’s contract? Overpaid? Underpaid? Bad move by Bob Murray? If you disagree with me, the comments are open!
