Hope On The Horizon

Today Ducks fans were given some news that they have been waiting for all summer and well, they’ve heard quite a few times before. Teemu Selanne announced he will, once again, play for another season, putting the “One More Year” chants to rest, for now. The 42 year-old winger is one of the most loved players by fans. He is not only in 12th place on the all-time scoring list of the NHL and the all-time points leader in Men’s Olympic Ice Hockey, he is also one of the classiest guys in the National Hockey League. When he finally does decide to throw in the towel, it will be a heartbreaking day for fans, not only of the Ducks, but of the sport.
Most Ducks fans are in denial, but eventually the Finnish legend will retire. When he does the team will still have hope. The ducks are ranked 8th in prospects, showing that the future could be very bright.
The Ducks have an assortment of forwards, defensemen, and goaltenders that represent the franchise’s future. Prospects include goaltenders John Gibson and Igor Bobkov, defensemen Sami Vatanen and Mathieu Carle, Left-wings Luca Caputi and Max Friberg, centers Peter Holland and Ryan Lasch, and right-wings Emerson Etem and Rickard Rakell.
So really, Ducks fans should be jumping with joy not only for Teemu’s news, but also for the success these youngsters may bring in years to come.
