Ducks Sign Defenseman Jordan Hendry

On Sunday Night, the Anaheim Ducks announced the signing of free agent defenseman Jordan Hendry to a one-year deal. Hendry is 28-years-old who split last season between the AHL and the Swiss Elite League. He is listed at 6’0″-195 lbs. He is a native of Nokomis, Saskatchewan and played four seasons for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks before graduating.

He began last season with the AHL affiliation of the Minnesota Wild, the Houston Aeros. In 10 games with the Aeros, Hendry tallied 2 assists and 10 PIM with a plus/minus of +8. Later on in the season, Hendry signed with HC Lugano of the Swiss Elite League. In 29 games with Lugano, Hendry recorded 1 goal and 9 assists for 10 points and 18 PIM. He did enjoy a Stanley Cup run with the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2009-2010.

I do know of him because I remember seeing him play in the Finals back in 2010. Not a widely known defenseman, but right now, the Ducks really need to sure up the blue line. So, why not bring in a guy who certainly has plenty of experience in a few different levels of hockey. I don’t expect him to see any significant time with the big club, but he should be a consistent goalie for the Norfolk Admirals.
