Justin Schultz Update
By Sean
Yeah, he’s still undecided. However, that might not last much longer. As the spring semester of college begins to wrap up all over the country, college students partake in finals and Justin Schultz is focusing on them instead of his undecided future. Can’t fault him for that after just finishing my finals a week or two ago. There is still a lot of speculation going on about Schultz’s future, but we may finally find out what he will decide very soon.
According to the OC Register, the Ducks have been in contact with Schultz and his agent. GM Bob Murray is hoping for a decision in the upcoming week. Murray had this to say:
"“Last week, I had a good chat with him. I think Justin has got his exams and he’ll figure out what he wants to do after he gets his schoolwork done. He wanted to concentrate on school and I think he gets done for the year sometime next week. We expect to know something on that in the next little while.”"
What Schultz decides will be a huge factor in the upcoming season and possibly many seasons ahead for the Ducks. Here is a kid who could have been a top four defenseman right after his junior season ended, but ultimately chose to finish up the semester of school. This kid has some serious talent and will be a figure head on a lucky team’s blue line. Hopefully, Schultz will stick with the team that drafted him in the second round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Let the anticipation begin again!
