Although Not Playoff Bound, Ducks Can Play Spoiler Role

The Anaheim Ducks playoff chances are basically done for. They have 8 games remaining on their schedule and are 10 points out of a playoff spot.

Although they probably won’t make playoffs, the Ducks still have some important games ahead of them. With playoffs coming closer every day, the teams who are battling for the last spot are looking to grab every point they can. The Ducks have the chance to ruin it for some teams.

Lets look at the Ducks remaining games:

3/21- St. Louis Blues

This game is meaningless really. The Blues managed to clinch a playoff spot (and were the first to do it this season). Technically if the Ducks want to make playoffs, they would need to win, but that seems farfetched..

3/25- Boston Bruins

The Bruins have been struggling these past few weeks and are looking to get back into a winning habit. Another game that doesn’t matter very much.

3/28- San Jose Sharks

The Ducks recently faced the Sharks, and dominated them. Had the Ducks lost, the Sharks would have jumped from 9th, all the way to 3rd in the western conference. I can imagine this will be a big game for San Jose. If not from them, another western team will be wanting them to lose. It is a big chance to play the spoiler role.

3/31- @ Phoenix Coyotes

The Coyotes are currently in 7th in the conference with 83 points. They are close to losing a playoff spot and I doubt they will be able to pull far ahead by this time. Another big chance for the spoiler role.

4/1- Edmonton Oilers

One of 3 teams below the Ducks, so obviously not important. I expect this to be a great game though, due to both teams having nothing on the line. This is also the Ducks final home game.

4/3- @ Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver is way ahead of the playoff race. It is always fun beating them though..

4/5- @ Edmonton Oilers

Second time meeting in only 4 days. Could be an interesting game.

4/7 @ Calgary Flames

This is the last game of the season for both teams. There is a chance this game could be HUGE for the Flames, literally being their last chance to make playoffs. It all depends how things play out, but this could be a big spoiler game.
