Former Head Coach Randy Carlyle to Join the Maple Leafs

The Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs have traded players again (sort of…)

Former head coach of the Ducks Randy Carlyle is now the new coach Leafs. The Leafs fired Ron Wilson earlier this evening.

The Leafs started off with a great start to the season, sitting in 8th place for a long time. Recently though, they have gone 1-9-1 in their last 11 and have dropped out of playoff contention. I don’t think Carlyle is going to turn things around immediately, giving such the short notice.

Joffrey Lupul may not be a Leaf much longer, considering he was traded away twice when Carlyle was running the show….

The move comes just months after GM Brian Burke gave Wilson  a one-year contract extension in late December.

I’m not a fan of Toronto, so I have no opinion on this matter. I think Carlyle is a great addition though, considering all of his experience and familiarity with Burke…

Congratulations Carlyle on your new gig. I wish you the best!!
