Ducks Finish Road Trip With Win Over Carolina Hurricanes
By Editorial Staff
The Anaheim Ducks have finished off their 8 game road trip with a win over the Carolina Hurricanes.
The game ended up going into a shootout, which saw the Ducks finally win one and a final score of 3-2. They grabbed 12 out of a possible 16 points on their 8 game road trip.
Jonas Hiller was the star of the game. he went perfect in the shootout and was absolutely dominating in regulation. If it weren’t for him, the Ducks would have lost. The Ducks struggled against Justin Peters, who is still very new to the NHL.
The Ducks surprised me with their performance. I expected them to be slow and sloppy due to the long trip. They were actually quite energetic and did not give up even when they couldn’t score.
The first period was slow, until Jerome Samson scored 13 minutes into the period. 8 seconds later, on the very next shift, Devante Smith-Pelly sent a nice pass to Nick Bonino, who then fed Luca Sbisa who rifled it past Peters. Check out the goal here.
Bobby Ryan took a bad penalty in the beginning of the second, which saw the Canes go up 2-1. Jamie McBain sent a slap shot right past Hiller.
The Ducks stepped up their game in the third period. Firing shots left and right. Finally, Corey Perry scored halfway through the period.
