Ducks Nine Game Point Streak Is Snapped In Tampa Bay

The Anaheim Ducks point streak had to finally come to an end. They lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning by a final score of 3-2.  This was the Ducks 7th game of their 8 game road trip, and it’s clear that this is taking a toll on them.

The Ducks outshot the Lightning but were overall outplayed. Unfortunately they were unable to defensively dominate like they did against the Panthers.

Cam Fowler took an early penalty just 22 seconds into the game when he received a hooking minor. Just 6 seconds after, Steven Stamkos cashed in and put the Bolts on top. Stamkos struck again when he scored towards the end of the period to give the Bolts a 2-0 lead.

The Ducks had 30 shots on goal tonight which is insane compared to the Bolts measly 16….

The Ducks came out early and looked to cut the lead with some solid play. Saku Koivu scored 40 seconds into the second period. Two minutes later, Teddy Purcell put the Bolts further ahead when he backhanded a pass from Stamkos. Late in the period, Bobby Ryan scored to give the Ducks some hope.

Although we had tons of hope for the Ducks to comeback and win the game, it was apparent they were tired from this long trip. They were unable to make any solid scoring chances and didn’t score anything.
