If you weren’t stoked about Emerson Etem making his way up into the NHL the next few years, you should be now. The Anaheim Ducks number 1 prospect scored his 50th and 51st goal against the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL. Check out goal number 5o here.
That would be 51 goals in 50 games. He also has 38 assists and a +21 in those games. This kid is the real deal and he continues to prove it.
The last player to accomplish the feat was Layne Ulmer of the Swift Current Broncos, who netted 51 in 47 games in 2000-01. Pavel Brendl netted 50 goals in 43 games for the Calgary Hitmen during the 1998-99 season. Mark Parrish scored 50 goals in 50 games for the Seattle Thunderbirds in 1997-98.
Etem is leading the Medicine Hat Tigers and will soon contribute to the Ducks success. Ducks Daily has been hyping this kid up for quite some time, and for good reason.
Here’s a look at his past two season with the Medicine Hat Tigers:
2009-2010: 37 goals, 28 assists, +8 and 28 PIM
2010-2011: 45 goals, 35 assists, +41 and 24 assists
The Medicine Hate Tigers are currently second in their division and 3rd in the Eastern Conference. Etem leads the WHL in scoring and is third overall in points.
His numbers are only getting better and better. I don’t expect him to put up those numbers when he makes it to the NHL, but I expect him to do some solid secondary scoring. He is going to be a huge part of the Ducks future.
