Dallas Stars Dominate the Ducks….Again

The Anaheim Ducks continue to struggle when facing the Dallas Stars, losing 6-2.

It was an overall dominating performance from the Stars, who controlled the entire game. The Ducks played extremely lazy and allowed Dallas to run all over them. Anaheim’s defense was again a huge problem, showing a huge hole in the Ducks game.

The Ducks started off great, and got on board early when Matt Beleskey scored. The Stars retailiated late in the period and scored three goals from Eric Nystrom, Vernon Fiddler and Jamie Benn. Nystrom’s goal was pretty lucky considering Hiller was screened by about 25 people but the rest were due to sloppy Ducks play. They allowed a breakaway to Benn, which should never be allowed.

Stephane Robidas put the Stars further in the lead when he sent a nuice slap shot passed Hiller 7 minutes into the second period. Luca Sbisa attempted to keep the Ducks in the game when he buried a pass from a streaking Teemu Selanne. The Ducks didn’t feel like capitalizing and nothing else came from it.

Any hopes of a win were shot when Sheldon Souray scored just 36 seconds into the third period. Michael Ryder added threw some salt in the wound when he scored late in the period.

Game Stats:

  • The Ducks went 0/4 on the PP, and 2/3 on the PK
  • The Ducks outshot the Stars 35-26
  • Teemu Selanne moved into a tie with Bernie Nicholls for 43rd on the all-time assists list with 734
  • Jamie Benn played his first game since being sidelined for appendectomy surgery
  • Jonas Hiller stopped 20/26 shots
