The final NHL All-Stars Game roster has been posted. Corey Perry is the only Duck who is on the roster. I don’t care for the All-Star Game, so this will probably be the last post you will see about it.
The two other Ducks that absolutely deserve to be on the roster were Bobby Ryan and Teemu Selanne.
Selanne however, was picked to play in the All-Star Game but instead decided to turn it down. The reason being plain and simple: he wanted to rest. I agree with this move 110%.He knows that at his age, he can’t handle all of that. A nice rest can only benefit Selanne who may be tired at this point (although he’s not showing it).
Not only did Selanne politely decline, he also suggested Corey Perry go in his place. Straight class.
Detroit’s Nick Lidstorm also declined his ASG invite so that he could rest. It is a smart move by some of the veterans.
Yeah, it sucks that he isn’t on the ballot or whatever, but its not uncommon for a lot of deserving players to completely miss the ballot.
