Lubo, Koivu and Blake Skating With Team Again

Some good news on the horizon for the Ducks: Lubomir Visnovsky, Saku Koivu and Jason Blake are making progress to returning to the team.

Visnovsky, who was out with a broken finger, has been skating with the team for the past few days.  Probably the biggest injury to the team, Lubo is our #1 defenseman and it is obvious we need him back. The Ducks defense has been sloppy and lacking a top player. Hopefully he will be able to return Wednesday against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Blake was injured back in October when his tendon was severely cut by a skate against the San Jose Sharks. He has been doing some light skating and shooting without the rest of the team. Last season in 76 games, Blake scored 16 goals and 16 assists to provide some secondary scoring for the Ducks. No timetable has been set on a return.

Koivu was injured against the St. Louis Blues with a “lower body injury”. He has been skating with Blake prior to team practices. Hopefully he can get back to us soon. Koivu is another top player who provides secondary scoring. He also has tons of experience, which comes in handy with all these rookies playing.

The returns of these players could be huge for the Ducks. Under Boudreau, I can see Visnovsky being an even better player and a leader on the blue line. Boudreau is also great with veterans, so I expect solid progress from Blake and Koivu on their eventual returns.
