Ducks Claim Hagman

It is obvious that the Ducks offense is struggling right about now, and hell that might even be an understatement. But, monday they made a move to try and spark the offense by claiming former Calgary Flame Niklas Hagman off of re-entry waivers. Due to him being claimed on re-entry waivers, the Ducks and the Flames will split Hagman’s $3.0 million salary this season, $1.5 million a piece if you can’t do the math genius.

Hagman has spent most of his time this season as a healthy scratch for the Calgary Flames or playing for their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat. In his time in Calgary, Hagman saw his numbers drop from previous years but is still a good veteran presence on the ice and in the locker room.

Now, I don’t think he’s the guy that’s going to spark this offense and they’ll start scoring a lot of goals all of a sudden but it’s a start and the front office is realizing that they need to make some changes. I’d like to see a Hagman-Koivu-Selanne line and call them “The Finnish Line,” but nothing’s set it stone right now.
